WINTER WORKSHOP

INTRODUCTION TO INTERIOR DESIGN & DECORATION

In this workshop you will learn the basic elements of good design and how to design and decorate a room. You will learn how to uncover your personal style, as well as how to best place furniture, accessories and lighting, select finishes and create dynamic and inspiring colour schemes.

This workshop will give you the confidence to unleash your creativity and take what you learn and apply it to your own home.

COURSE CONTENT-

·         Introduction to interior design and decoration

·         Considerations for creating an interior scheme

·         Space planning

·         Creating colour schemes

·         Creating a mood board

·         Selecting furniture, lighting and fabrics

WHAT TO BRING-

·         Paper, pens ,pencils

·         Glue

·         Scissors

·         Old magazines for cutting up

·         Contribution for communal afternoon tea (Nespresso and tea provided)

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR-

Emily Laird has been an Interior Designer for almost 20 years. She lives and breathes design. Born and bred in Newcastle, she went on to work in Sydney and Melbourne where she had an exciting career. She now lives again in Newcastle with her husband and two cats and is Co-Director at respected local design firm LAIRDpaolacci. Emily has worked on many and varied projects within Australia and also internationally. She has extensive experience in residential interiors, as well as an impressive portfolio of hospitality and commercial work.Emily has also taught Interior Design at Degree level in Sydney and Melbourne part-time for 5 years.
